VoteMatch USA in Belgium (actually, the Netherlands)
Edit, I didn’t realize that the website was from a television maker in the Netherlands. Oeps. I’ll change “Belgium” into “Netherlands” everywhere.
For the people in the United States who care, one of the television makers in the Netherlands is doing a poll about the elections in the United States. In Belgium and the Netherlands they do this kind of “votematches” often. Usually for our own elections. The intention is helping people picking political choices.
You can find an English version here if you want to verify the questions being asked and perhaps if you want voting advise from a foreign organisation? Maybe you believe such advise to be more objective? Maybe not?
Note that if you do the English version, you get different “Total results” compared to the Dutch version. I’m guessing they are counting it differently for each language? But I don’t know. Perhaps it’s just a bug in their software?
They give an extra warning before showing their own results:
Below, in absolute numbers and in alphabetical order, is an overview of the results. You can take the VoteMatch test several times. Participants do not form a representative sample survey of the population. Please note that the VoteMatch is not a political barometer or opinion poll. The actual result of the elections will probably be very different.
Note that these numbers are not picked by letting people select an electable. They are decided for the participants of the poll based on how many match points the answers on the questions yielded. Therefore this is not necessarily how the Dutch population would vote. This is also made clear in their own warning!
Barack Obama (D): 6,805
Hillary Clinton (D): 19,999
John Edwards (D): 92,327
John McCain (R): 210
Mike Huckabee (R): 539
Mitt Romney (R): 3,255
Rudy Giuliani (R): 5074
In my opinion are 128,209 results not sufficient. Please do the English version of the test yourself before drawing any conclusions.
My own order was: John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani. Before I did the test I thought my order would have been Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Ron Paul, John Edwards, Commit Suicide, Rudy Giuliani.
