Found this while surfing the internets

The Theory of Interstellar Trade. A paper by Paul Krugman, July 1978.

It should be noted that, while the subject of this paper is silly, the analysis actually does make sense. This paper, then, is a serious analysis of a ridiculous subject, which is of course the opposite of what is usual in economics.

  1. Philip, it is an amazing article, really… Had fun reading it… I was in the mood anyway as I’ve been doing sciency stuff all day. Regression analysis gets boring after a while and this was a welcome change :D Thanks!

  2. Hmm, judging by a lot of what goes on in economics (and academia more generally), “what is usual” now is what was unusual then. Consider Freakonomics-style economics these days, or the paper analyzing the effects of a tax on tall people, for example.
