Re: Provoked

Hey Michael, I would like to correct you in that I didn’t say people should be ashamed of their country. I wrote that they should be ashamed of their current politicians. There’s a very big difference (in my opinion).

About the NDA thingy. Yes, maybe you are right.

But Michael, it’s good that you let me know how you feel about what I write on my blog.

  1. I agree with your prior post and find Michael’s to be “bad style.” The citizens of a Democracy have a right and duty to question their government. The freedom of expression is the hallmark of Democracy and the net. Some will claim you have no “moral right” to say things that make them uncomfortable. To me it sounds a bit “silly” to say this on a blog, a symbol of free expression.

  2. Thanks James. I agree that “the blog” is indeed an instrument of free speech and expression. Whether or not Michael’s blog was “bad style” is something I have no opinion on (yet I do indeed, like you, question the part where he claims I have no moral right etc etc).

  3. The only person that could accuse you of not having the “moral right” is the same politician you criticised, but only if you were a politician yourself and if you were involved in something shameful of the same kind.

    Is that the case?

On the other hand, I have read some comments on Michael’s blog and they seem rather aggressive. I don’t know… maybe they have been given the “moral right” to attack you that way. I, for one, find it disturbing how it contrasts with his use of the expression “moral right”.
