Confoederatio Helvetica

It’s crossing my mind to move here in ~ two years.

Today we visited Zug; it has a Ferrari shop.

Zug, where an apartment costs far more than a villa in Belgium. Briefly a million euros.

It also comforts me. I could be here. Zug has a volière with exotic birds and a lake.

When Tinne and me were driving back to Oerlikon, we listened to Karoliina’s Symphonic dream.

The music; a canvas for the paint, Switzerland.

Die Lichter auf dem Berg. Die sind alle Seelen.

  1. Zug is part of the Swiss gold triangle, very low taxes (mostly for the riches) but the rest must be expensive. Usually salaries follow so you get a decent lifestyle. Swiss people are mostly renters not buyers, owning your own house/flat isn’t as common as in the rest of Europe (I’m mostly thinking about France where you MUST (in people’s mind) own the place you live in)

  2. @Jay: I don’t write that I could afford a million euros (but maybe you interpreted “I could be here” wrong?). At least not yet. I’m a self employed software developer in case you still want to know. I’m not poor, but a million euros is a lot (just wait for inflation to turn a million into peanuts).

@Yoan: Being an almost extinct species as self employed in Belgium, I knew about Zug’s low taxes; it’s like legendary in my country among some self employed people.

Maybe that’s why I wanted to see it (and because it’s nearby Zürich, and has a bit of historic background, and a volière)? You know, I was thinking: “Oh, so that place does actually exist?!!”. I’m sure that when they’ll be checking my company that the tax people in Belgium will read this blog item and they’ll smile a lot ;-) (hi guys!).

In Belgium (all) taxes are super high, you see. A Swiss friend told me Zug doesn’t have the lowest taxes anymore in Switzerland. Apparently there’s another canton that has even lower taxes nowadays? You have to love confederalism! Competition between the cantos! Awesome. Why don’t we have this?

About renting: I see, but in the end somebody has to own the building. I guess those people all have addresses in places like Zug :-) ?
